YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Be a team player

Spring means it’s time for kids to get outside and play! Youth sports at the Y help kids stay active, make new friends, and develop important life skills. Registration for flag football (ages 5-14) and soccer (ages 3-13) ends soon, so sign up today.

Parents, take time for you

The Y offers several fun, affordable, and entertaining childcare options, including Kids Club, Parents Night Out, and Parents Morning Out. Take a break while your kids have fun in a safe environment. Click here to learn more and find your program. Drop-off childcare is open to the public. Y members get the best rate and a special bonus: Every quarter, Household and Single Adult with dependent(s) memberships receive one free Parents Time Out session.

Healthy Kids Day is April 26

Save the date for Healthy Kids Day, a free community event on Saturday, April 26 Join us at the Corpening Memorial YMCA in Marion from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for fun games, activities, group exercise class demonstrations, healthy snacks, contests and prizes, local vendor and community partner booths, and much more. Stay tuned for more details.

Appalachian adventures await 

Get ready for an epic spring break adventure! From April 14-18, kids in grades 6-8 can join us for a thrilling hiking and camping expedition along the iconic Appalachian Trail. Starting at YMCA Youth Services Center at Beaverdam in Asheville and ending at YMCA Camp Watia near Bryson City, this journey promises excitement at every turn. Along the way, your camper will explore nature, make new friendships, and create unforgettable memories. Discover more and sign up today!

Half-day camp, full-day fun

Half-day camps at the Y give kids the social activities that add more fun to their summer, plus entertainment and structure all jam-packed into just the right amount of time.

  • Camp Kiddos introduces children ages 3-5 to structured camp through arts, crafts, song, outdoor play, and water safety. Campers experience new things, make friends, and get to be themselves in a safe and secure setting while preparing for school. 
  • Sports camps teach the fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship, and teamwork. These camps are perfect for aspiring athletes ages 5-12 who enjoy a variety of sports and recreational games.

Ready, set, sweat

Spring into action with the Sweat 16 Check-in Challenge! Complete 16 workouts between now and March 31 to feel stronger, healthier, and more energized. You’ll also earn a special prize for your hard work! Learn more here.

Race into spring with free 5k training

Get ready for the Asheville Chamber Challenge 5k with free training designed for ALL fitness levels! YMCA personal trainer Suzanne Ion’s sessions are open to everyone, whether you're registered for the race or not. Meet Suzanne every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Asheville Chamber (36 Montford Ave, Asheville, NC 28801) from Mar. 18-Apr. 22. Participants will get a chance to win a free race registration. You can prevent diabetes

According to the CDC, one-third of U.S. adults are at risk of developing diabetes and don’t know it. Without taking action, many people with prediabetes could develop type 2 diabetes within five years. Assess your risk on March 25, American Diabetes Association Alert Day. To secure your spot for a free HbA1c test, email or call us. Locations and times vary, and space is limited. Appointments are required and must be reserved by Mar. 25.

Help feed our community

Every month we distribute free produce at mobile food markets around the region. It takes many hands to make this possible. It only takes an hour to sort produce and pack or deliver food boxes.
