Adult Sports

At the Y, sports and recreational activities are something special. Friendly competition, lots of variety, and a supportive environment make team sports and recreation a great way to have fun and create new connections. Physical activity and community make for a happier and healthier life! Plus, incorporating play into your exercise routine can help you stick to and meet your fitness goals.

Adults can get active, ignite their competitive side, and have a great time participating in sports at the Y, including basketball, volleyball, and pickleball.

So many recreational activities serve to restore our spirits and energy, get us outdoors, or test our limits. And for many of us, they’re the foundation of active living and rewarding relationships. Cycling, hiking, running, wall climbing, swimming and many more activities are available at your Y. Instruction, lessons, and group trips are part of the mix, so it may be time for you to try something new.

Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor paddle sport where two players, or four players, hit a perforated hollow polymer ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. Opponents on either side of the net hit the ball back and forth until one side commits a rule infraction.

Pickleball at the Y is a free member-led program. Joining is free for members, and non-members can purchase a day pass to join the game for $15.

Pickleball is played at multiple locations throughout the week so check your local Y's gym and pickleball schedules here.

The Hendersonville YMCA is currently running volleyball games on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Joining is free for members, and non-members can purchase a day pass to join the game for $15.

Whether you enjoy shooting hoops alone or playing pickup ball, the Y is a great place to be.

Pickup basketball happens at many of the gymnasiums at our various YMCAs. While not formally organized by the Y, you can often find patrons playing during open gym hours. Basketballs are available at most YMYMCAs. Come and meet other basketball players at our centers, or bring your friends! Open gym is free for members, non-members can join with a day pass for $15.

Visit your local Y for open gym hours to hit some hoops.

Don't forget, you may have guest passes!

If you are a member, you can use your guest passes to bring a friend to take advantage of our sports, facilities, programs, and exercise equipment. Want to learn more about guest passes? Click here.
