Adult Volleyball

Bump, set, and spike your heart out at the Y!

A fun, challenging and rewarding way for adults to improve their health, fitness, and well-being.

Volleyball involves hitting a ball over a net with your hands or arms. It’s played by two teams of six players on a court divided by a net. It’s fast, fun, and easy to learn.

Volleyball has many benefits, including:

  • Burns calories and fat: Volleyball is a high-intensity sport that requires constant movement, jumping and hitting. You can burn up to 336 calories in 30 minutes of play.
  • Strengthens your muscles and bones: Volleyball works your whole body, especially your upper body, core, and legs. It also improves your balance, coordination, and flexibility. You can develop and maintain muscle tone and bone density by playing volleyball. This can prevent osteoporosis and injuries as you age.
  • Boosts your heart health: Volleyball is a great cardiovascular exercise that increases your heart rate, blood circulation, and oxygen delivery.
  • Enhances your mental health: Volleyball is mental as well as physical. It challenges you to think strategically, react quickly, and focus on the game. It also releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones that improve your mood and reduce stress.
  • Improves your social wellness: Volleyball is a social sport that allows you to interact with other players, make new friends, and enjoy a sense of community. It’s a friendly, inclusive sport that welcomes people of all backgrounds and skill levels.

The Reuter Family YMCA runs pickup volleyball games on Fridays from 6-8pm. You can also play pickup games at the Hendersonville Family YMCA on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm. Joining games is free for members. Non-members can purchase a day pass to join the game for $15.
