Y at MPHC to Close, Community Programs Continue

lk

The Y at Mission Pardee Health Campus has served thousands of people in the Arden and Fletcher community since 2014. And when the pandemic left neighbors isolated, without food or childcare, the local community helped us take care of them.

However, COVID-19 has caused financial difficulties for many nonprofits, including the YMCA of Western North Carolina. After conducting an in-depth operational analysis to determine how to best serve the community while maintaining long-term fiscal health, we made the extremely difficult decision to close the Y at MPHC. Its last day of operations will be April 30, 2021.

The Y remains committed to serving local residents at two nearby centers, the Reuter Family Y and the Hendersonville Family Y, as well as our five other locations. We will also continue to offer community-based programs such as free healthy food markets, childcare and day camps, diabetes prevention and management programs, cancer survivorship groups, virtual fitness classes, and much more.

Members based at MPHC will receive a reduced rate for three months following the closure. Medicare Advantage plan memberships will transfer to the nearest location and the plan provider will be notified. Staff based at MPHC are being offered shifts at other Y locations.
