School’s Out Camps follow the Asheville City, Buncombe County, and McDowell County public school calendars for most holidays and teacher work days. Programs are open on snow days if staff can safely travel to sites. Sign up for single days or a full week.
School's Out Camps FAQ
The Y operates School’s Out Camps for Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, and McDowell County Schools at these sites (subject to change for the 2024-25 school year):
Asheville City
- Students from Asheville City Schools go to YMCA Youth Services at Beaverdam.
Buncombe County
- North Buncombe District - Weaverville Elementary (combine at Beaverdam for Spring Break)
- Erwin District - West Buncombe
- Enka District - Sandhill
- Roberson District - Avery's Creek
- Reynolds District - Haw Creek (Oakley for Spring Break)
- Owen District - Black Mountain
McDowell County
- McDowell students go to West Marion.
- All School's Out days are included for year-round and full-time afterschool participants in Buncombe and McDowell counties.
- The drop-in registration fee for School's Out Camps is $65 and the camp fee is $40/day ($200/week).
- Payment is due at time of registration.
- Year-round and Full-time Afterschool participants are automatically registered for School’s Out days at no extra cost.
- Drop-in program registration is $65 and the camp fee is $40/day ($200/week).
- Registration is required at least five days in advance to ensure that all paperwork, waivers, photos, etc., are on file.
- Registration closes five days before start of program.
- Payment is due at time of registration.
- We follow the Asheville City, Buncombe County, and McDowell County public school calendars for holidays and teacher work days.
- Camps run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Schedules vary on snow days depending on if/when staff can safely get to sites.
- Closed Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, and the week after school gets out (June 10-14, 2024)
