Transforming Lives in Our Community

The YMCA of Western North Carolina is more than a gym. We’re a charitable organization committed to serving our community by supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Each year, we award more than $4 million in financial assistance to ensure that our programs are open to all, regardless of the ability to pay.

Founded in Asheville in 1889, the YMCA of WNC serves more than 60,000 people throughout the region. We offer programs for people of all ages and stages of their lives, from infants in our Youth Development Centers, to seniors in our falls prevention program, and everyone in between. Every day, the Y helps people grow in spirit, mind, and body.

Our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility guide us as we serve people from all walks of life throughout Western North Carolina. We take on some of society’s biggest challenges, such as narrowing the academic achievement gap, addressing pressing public health issues, and reducing social isolation by giving people a place to connect.

When you give to the Y, your dollars stay in the community and help deliver crucial programs and services to help our neighbors grow and thrive.

Are you looking for a rewarding way to spend your free time? Do you have a love for your community, but you're not sure how to get involved?
