YMCA Helps More Neighbors Thanks to First Horizon Bank
Asheville, N.C., May 14, 2020 – More local families will be able to put food on the table and receive childcare assistance thanks to a generous donation from First Horizon Bank.
“We both only had one bag full and it was like we had found treasure,” said a participant in the YMCA of Western North Carolina’s mobile food market program. “It was amazing. The people there were so nice and friendly and helpful.”
First Horizon Bank recently donated $15,000 to the YMCA of WNC to support coronavirus-related response efforts, including feeding programs and emergency childcare.
“The Y has always looked for gaps in the community to serve the needs of others,” said Kevin Hefner, area president of First Horizon Bank. “The Y is demonstrating incredible compassion by providing fresh groceries and distributing meals to senior citizens and families of essential workers. This is community service in action.”
Since March 16, the Y has distributed more than 100,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce to the community and provided childcare for hundreds of essential workers and people looking for work.
