Reuter Staff Spotlight: Anthony Brown

Asheville, N.C., Aug. 9, 2019 - Have you met Anthony Brown from our Sports Department? We were extremely fortunate to have Anthony join us this summer. Learn more about his Y story.

Anthony Brown is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and relocated to Florida with his family before deciding to attend Lenoir-Rhyne (LR) University (Hickory, NC) on a football scholarship. After realizing he was a talented decathlete, Anthony traded in his cleats for spikes.

Anthony is a Communications Major with a Sports Studies Minor and a member of the Varsity Men’s Track and Field Team, competing in both the Decathlon and 110m Hurdles. He is also a commentator for all varsity-level at the university.

Up next for Anthony, he will return to LR for his senior year. Anthony jumped into the intern role back in June, and quickly exceeded all expectations. His infectious personality and ability to morph into any role have helped to create a memorable and successful summer sports program here at the Reuter Family YMCA.

His energy and enthusiasm have greatly contributed to the success of our summer sports program. Not only has he improved our curriculum for sports camps, but he also created weekly video shorts, highlighting our sports camp participants in action! Anthony’s favorite thing about this summer was the fun atmosphere created by our camp participants and his fellow summer sports staff co-workers!

Anthony is an avid sports fan and loves the St. Louis Blues hockey team and St. Louis Cardinals baseball team! Fun fact – he has now acquired three Asheville tourist jerseys becoming a big Asheville Tourist baseball fan!

THANK YOU Anthony! You will be missed! We wish you the best in ALL your future endeavors!
