July News: Get Fired up About Your Fitness
Everyone’s invited to the Y’s new Hot Summer Series – a FREE month of weekly workouts at seven different outdoor locations!
July 5-31, invite your friends and family to join you for some of our most popular classes at no charge. Our certified instructors will help you get conditioned, build strength, and dance your heart out all month long.
These community workouts are free and open to the public. Y membership is not required, but please sign up ahead of time here. These classes do not count toward guest visits.
And remember, if you refer a friend to the Y and they join, you both get $10 off your monthly membership for the next three months!
Rely on the Y for year-round childcare
After a stressful school year, the last thing parents need to worry about is childcare. The Y's year-round program for school-age children provides nurturing, fun, safe, and reliable childcare at an affordable rate.
The full-time option includes:
- a guaranteed spot for 50 weeks of afterschool care and summer day camp
- priority registration for the next school year - a full month before it opens to the public
- care during winter break, spring break, teacher work days, and snow days
- summer day camp at any of our Discovery camps
- Y membership for your family
Household memberships include unlimited access to all seven local YMCAs and to participating Ys nationwide, drop-in childcare while you work out, deep discounts on programs like swim lessons and youth sports, and much more.
Thanks to the support of generous donors to our annual fundraising campaign, the Y offers financial assistance based on need and available funds. Space is limited, so secure your child's spot today!
Give yourself a break while your kiddos have fun
Kids activities are back at the Y! We still have spots open for several upcoming Camp Kiddos sessions, Kids Club, Parents Night Out, and Parents Morning Out. Take a break while your kids are having fun in a safe environment. Click here to find your program and sign up. Financial assistance is available.
Combat Parkinson's with Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing is centered around exercises adapted from boxing drills, designed to help people with a Parkinson's diagnosis maintain or restore skills that deteriorate and interfere with everyday movements. We have two upcoming classes at our Asheville YMCA and Ferguson Family YMCA. Click here to learn more and sign up.
LIVESTRONG at the Y supports cancer survivors
Our cancer survivorship program is back in full swing for its 10th year of service! LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people affected by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond.
Funded locally by the YMCA of WNC and community partners, this free program includes a household membership to the Y for the session duration. Three LIVESTRONG sessions are starting later this summer. Click here to learn more.

See you at the games!
Summer fun is back at YMCA Camp Watia
YMCA Camp Watia missed hosting campers last year, but now it feels like they never left! Our team has worked hard to create a safe environment that's also fun, and the kids are having a blast. Please follow Camp Watia's adventures on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on things Watia, all summer long.
Thanks to generous community donors, we're making camp available to many children who otherwise would not have the opportunity.
If you would like to join the fun, we could still use some help in the kitchen preparing healthy, nutritious meals. Click here to apply.
Find community after bereavement
Grief takes a toll on your spirit, mind, and body. The Woodfin YMCA is starting a free Bereavement Support Group to help people ages 21 and up cope with the loss of an adult loved one. Peer-led and coordinated by a trained and certified facilitator, Will Weintraub, the group will encourage conversation in a safe, confidential environment. You do not need to be a Y member to participate. The group's first session meets at the Woodfin Y on Tuesday, July 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. It will continue on the first and third Tuesday of every month. To sign up, email Eric Barsotti or call 828-575-2926.
The Y feeds neighbors in need
Each week, the Y is in the community distributing healthy produce, simple recipes, and valuable nutrition information that's easy to understand. This service is FREE and open to the public, no questions asked. Find our mobile market schedules here.
