Coming soon: Upgraded group fitness!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with Les Mills to bring our members the world’s most popular workouts. BODYPUMP, a full-body barbell-based workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned, and fit, is coming to the Y in September! Over the next few months, we'll add RPM and BODYCOMBAT to our group fitness lineup. Starting Aug. 13, members can preview BODYPUMP and other energizing Les Mills classes by logging in to Virtual Y. For the in-person experience, join us for a Super Saturday kickoff on Sept. 10 at all Y locations!

YOUTH AND FAMILIES

Take the WHOLE family to camp

Adults always say, “We want to come to camp!” Now it's your turn! Experience the weekend of a lifetime at YMCA Camp Watia's Family Camp, Aug. 19-21. You and yours can ditch the electronics and strengthen your bonds before school starts again. Don't worry about cooking and doing dishes - we provide all the meals and snacks while you are here, starting with the Friday night snack. Weather permitting, enjoy paddleboarding, mountain biking, campfires, and more fun camp activities. Each of our 10 cabins can accommodate up to 10 people. Groups will have their own cabin, and you can share with another family by request. Ages 6+. Call 828-251-5910 to learn more and reserve your weekend of family fun.

Playtime for you and the kids

Childcare is one of the best features the Y offers for families using our facilities, and we’re happy to be extending hours by popular demand. Check the updated hours at your favorite Y locations here. And be sure to take advantage of Parents Time Out opportunities available at several locations – our rates are lower than a babysitter and fun will be had by all!

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS

Improve balance and strength with guidance

Falls are no laughing matter. The Y's Moving for Better Balance is a falls prevention program that uses the principles and movements of Tai Chi to help older adults increase strength, improve their balance, and increase their confidence in doing everyday activities. The next class

starts Aug. 9 in person at the Reuter Family YMCA and will meet on Tuesday and Thursday, 1-2 p.m., for 12 weeks. Need to improve basic movement? PWR!Moves is a large motor skill program in which exercises are performed slowly, rhythmically, and with sustained effort in a high-intensity format. The next 12-week program at the Reuter Family YMCA starts Monday, Aug. 15. It meets in person on Monday and Wednesday, 1-2 p.m. Financial assistance is available for both classes. For more information, please email communityhealth@ymcawnc.org.
