Horizons Camp

Horizons summer camp is designed with teens in mind. Based at the Corpening YMCA and Reynolds Middle School, the program includes two field trips and a community partner day each week. Your camper will be happy, healthy, and active. The program serves ages 12-14, and is completely free to families.

Adventure Camp

Our Adventure Camp are for the true outdoor enthusiast. All campers must be able to pass a swim test and be ready to hike, swim, and explore the Blue Ridge Parkway. Adventure Camp Tween serves kids ages 9-12. Adventure Camp Teen is for campers ages 13-15.

CILT Program

Campers in Leadership Training (CILTs) will learn leadership and basic job skills in a fun camp environment. Field trips, lock-ins, and time with friends are high points of the CILT experience. Open to ages 12-14.

Discovery Camp

The Y's Discovery Camps offer licensed childcare to rising first through rising sixth graders in Buncombe and McDowell counties. We also offer a Pre-K Discovery program in McDowell for children ages 4-5. All campers participate in a variety of theme-based weeks, and elementary school-age campers go on field trips.

Explorer Camp

Time to get outside! Explorer Camp is a traditional outdoor adventure day camp in Buncombe County. Activities include archery, high and low ropes, gardening, forestry, field trips, and more. Ages 4-12.

Financial Assistance

Thanks to the support of generous donors to our annual campaign, the Y offers financial assistance based on need and available funds.

Contact the Buncombe County Child Care Services Subsidy Unit or the McDowell County Child Care Services Subsidy Unit for voucher services. Subsidy is not available at all locations. Call the Y Business Center at 828-251-5910 for locations that accept subsidy vouchers.

The Y-Access financial assistance program provides funds based on available resources. Assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are available at the Y Business Center at 40 North Merrimon Ave., Suite 301, Asheville, NC or below.

Applicants must first apply for the subsidy/voucher program through the Buncombe or McDowell County Child Care Services Subsidy Unit, if applicable. Applicants must also be working a minimum of 30 hours per week or be a full-time student.
