Adventure Guides is a YMCA program that emphasizes the essential role that fathers play in the growth and development of their children. Through Adventure Guides, dads can help their kids build critical life skills such as teamwork, independence, cooperation, and goal setting.
Participants join clubs to interact with other fathers and children within the same age range. Based on the school year calendar, clubs will work on projects, go camping, and plan other fun activities and events throughout the year. Members earn awards through accomplishments. Adventure Guides encourages fathers to get to know their children during the formative years of first through third grade.
There are two meetings a month, either at the house of an Adventure Guide parent, the YMCA Youth Services Center at Beaverdam, or a school. There will also be one outing a month.
Open to first, second, and third graders in Buncombe and Henderson County.
Financial Assistance is available.
